Affordable Housing Alliance will award $100,000 to Saint Mark's Center for Community Renewal
Funding to support the CCR Daily Meal Program
(Keansburg, NJ) – St. Mark’s Center for Community Renewal in Keansburg, NJ has been awarded $100,000 by the Affordable Housing Alliance ("AHA") for its daily meal program. This will enable St. Mark’s to continue its ministry of providing nutritional meals to disadvantaged residents in the Keansburg community.
The Rev. Kathleen Murray, Priest-in-Charge of Saint Mark’s and the Executive Director of the St. Mark’s Center for Community Renewal stated, “In a community that was hard hit economically before Superstorm Sandy, and will be rebuilding for a long time, this is an incredible gift and a blessing to our ministry. We deeply appreciate the support and commitment of AHA". Tammy Young, the Community Center Director at Saint Mark's said, “We continue to see a huge need in this community for assistance with food insecurity. There is a desperate need for food and AHA is helping us to meet that need.”
St. Mark’s Church has been serving Keansburg since 1926. Saint Mark’s Center for Community Renewal was founded in 2013 to provide meals and access to social services as well as food and clothing. Powered by volunteers and the support of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey, St. Mark’s Center for Community Renewal is committed to breaking the bonds of poverty by providing basic human needs with dignity and respect for each individual.
